COLUMBUS—Governor DeWine this week signed Senate Bill 4, sponsored by State Senators Michael Rulli (R-Salem) and Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) which provides an additional $300 million in funding for the renovation and construction of safe school buildings across Ohio.
Priority will be given to the lowest-wealth schools and those with exceptional needs.
Senate Bill 4 provides state capital appropriations to the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC), which administers construction programs for local school districts. Since assistance began in 1997, a total of 1,202 school buildings across the state have been fully renovated or constructed.
"I believe this additional funding will help improve our state's education system all across the state," said Rulli. "I am proud we were able to get this accomplished for Ohio's schools. I am equally glad this effort will create prevailing wage jobs, while providing a safe learning environment for our children."
