Senator Thomas Comments on Walnut Hills Shooting

Columbus—Today, State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) expressed his condolences to the families and victims of the shooting in Walnut Hills last weekend and called on the community to assist law enforcement in apprehending suspects.


“I was deeply saddened to hear of the incident in Walnut Hills and my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families in this difficult time,” said Senator Thomas. “I am confident the strong relationship between the community and police will lead to the quick identification of the perpetrators.”


The shooting, which occurred at the YMCA located at the 2600 block of Melrose Avenue in Walnut Hills, remains under investigation. Senator Thomas joins local officials and law enforcement in calling for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. 


“I commend those bystanders who stepped up and helped victims get to the hospital,” said Senator Thomas. “The same effort needs to be made to ensure there is justice for the victims and the streets in our neighborhoods become safer.”
