COLUMBUS – This weekend, State Senator Cecil Thomas released the following statement after his alma mater, Withrow University High School, was vandalized with swastikas and hateful messages.
“As a 1971 graduate of Withrow High School, I am appalled that someone would go to such lengths to spray bigotry and hatred on this great institution. Withrow has always been a school that provides a quality education to all its students. Many past graduates – including myself – have furthered our education in institutions of higher learning, receiving post-graduate degrees in many career fields.
The spirit of love given to each and every Withrow student and the Tiger spirit will not be broken by this cowardly act. It will only make those spirits stronger, and it will only make the Cincinnati community stronger. I am attending the alumni event on Monday in support of the students and faculty, but most of all I am attending to bring the true spirit of Cincinnati to the school.”
