Today, the Ohio Senate announced the Senate committee lineup for the 134th General Assembly. Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) has been appointed to serve as Ranking Minority Member on the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Veterans and Public Safety Committee.
“It is an honor to have been selected as the Ranking Minority Member of the Senate Judiciary and Senate Veterans and Public Safety committees,” said Senator Thomas. “Coupled with my position as Assistant Minority Leader, I look forward to working on behalf of my constituents in the district and in Columbus, being their advocate and voice in the legislature.”
On January 4, Senator Thomas was also re-elected to the minority leadership team as the Assistant Minority Leader of the Ohio Senate.
“My priorities continue to be criminal justice reform, sensible gun regulations and working during the budget process to provide more funding for local governments, social services and public schools,” said Senator Thomas.
In addition to these committees, Senator Thomas will also serve on the following:
• Government Oversight and Reform
• Health, Human Services, and Medicaid
• Rules & Reference
“The committee process is one of the most important functions of the Ohio Senate and the Ohio General Assembly as a whole,” said Senator Thomas. “It is through public testimonies and fruitful debates that we come together as legislators to best serve our communities and the state of Ohio.”
