Today, state Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Avondale) urged the Ohio General Assembly to fully repeal House Bill 6.
“This legislation raised serious concerns when it was introduced last year and it’s now clear that bribery and corruption were involved in its passage,” said Thomas. “We must immediately repeal House Bill 6 because hardworking Ohioans should not continue to fund this fraudulent scheme any longer. A few elected officials betrayed public trust and the legislature must act swiftly to restore it.”
Yesterday, House Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) was arrested by FBI agents on charges connected to a $60 million bribery scheme. Householder and other four associates were accused of accepting bribes to pass the $1.3 billion bailout of two nuclear plants owned by FirstEnergy Solutions and prevent a referendum that would have repealed the legislation.
