COLUMBUS – On March 14, 2017, Senator Sandra Williams was recognized at a reception hosted by Ohio Jewish Communities for her unwavering dedication to the Jewish community. The mission of Ohio Jewish Communities is to represent Ohio's Jewish federations, partner agencies and congregations for the purpose of enhancing the Jewish community's ability to provide human necessities.

CLEVELAND—This weekend, Senator Sandra Williams (D-Cleveland), along with State Representative Janine Boyd and State Representative Stephanie Howse, facilitated an Energy Expo for residents in the Cleveland area. Held at the Third District Police Station, the event attracted over 100 citizens. The Energy Expo consisted of community organizations and agencies with the common goal of educating people about their energy bill options and helping lower their energy bills or set up payment plans if they were struggling to pay their current bill.

COLUMBUS – Today, State Senator Sandra Williams (D-Cleveland) is hosting a holiday food giveaway at the Glenville Elks Lodge in Cleveland. Senator Williams’ goal is to bring holiday cheer by helping those who are struggling to put food on the table in her district.

Columbus—The National Black Conference of State Legislatures (NBCSL) recently presented Ohio Senator Sandra Williams (D-Cleveland) with the “2016 Regional Legislator of the Year” award at the NBCSL 40th Annual Legislative Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Columbus—Today, the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus sent the following letter to Governor John R. Kasich, calling on him to veto the five bills the caucus views as the most inconsistent with the needs of Ohioans.

COLUMBUS – Tonight, members of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus expressed opposition to the Senate passage of House Bill 48. This bill expands the areas in which it is legal to carry a concealed firearm to include several high-risk locations. This includes daycares, airports, and several government buildings – such as libraries, City halls, Boards of Elections, and public hospitals.

COLUMBUS – Tonight, members of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus expressed strong opposition to the passage of Amended Senate Bill 331. This bill eases restrictions on puppy mills and removes control from local communities on several different issues – including the ability to raise their own minimum wage.

COLUMBUS – The National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) last week presented Ohio Senator Sandra Williams (D-Cleveland) with a “Women in Politics Making a Difference” award from the Women's Legislative Network, an arm of the NCSL, at a luncheon held at the NCSL summit in Chicago.

COLUMBUS – Today, members of the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus celebrated a federal judge’s decision to block the implementation of a law that would have defunded Planned Parenthood and many other healthcare providers throughout Ohio. Judge Michael R. Barrett of the U.S. District Court in Cincinnati ruled that the law, which the Democratic Caucus opposed in the Ohio Senate, would cause “irreparable injury” to Planned Parenthood. Governor John Kasich had signed House Bill 294 into law in February.
