Yuko Statement on Redistricting Lawsuit
September 23, 2021
Today, Ohio Senate Minority Leader Kenny Yuko (D-Richmond Heights) issued the following statement in response to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Ohio, League of Women Voters of Ohio, the Ohio Chapter of the A. Phillip Randolph Institute and other Ohio voters, challenging the constitutionality of the gerrymandered state legislative district maps adopted early September 16 by Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission.

“Voters have made it clear over the last week that the legislative maps adopted by the Ohio Redistricting Commission were not what they asked for. Even Republican members of the Commission agreed that the maps could have been drawn more fairly. I look forward to learning the outcome of this lawsuit and hope the congressional redistricting process is handled in a more bipartisan manner. It’s not too late for us to have fair districts that respect the constitutional reforms Ohio voters demanded.”
