Smith Condemns Election Overreach Bill
Today, state Senator Kent Smith (D-Euclid) issued the following statement in response to the Ohio Senate’s passage of Senate Bill 4, which undermines local governments by establishing a partisan Election Integrity Unit under the Secretary of State.
“The biggest problem with the integrity of Ohio elections is that the Ohio Republican Party continues to look for ways to cheat and deceive voters,” said Smith. “The legislators asking for integrity today on the Ohio Senate floor are the same people who approve deceitful ballot language, voted to end majority rule, drew unfair district maps, and are opening the doors to unlimited dark money that will flood our elections. They have zero credibility on this issue and should not be trusted with power.”
Senate Bill 4 now heads to the Ohio House of Representatives for consideration.
