COLUMBUS-Today Walmart announced it will not renew its lease for its store at 3579 South High Street in Columbus.

Walmart will keep its pharmacy open temporarily, with its closing date scheduled for March 4. Access to the main part of the store will close on February 16. Pharmacy staff will work with customers to transfer prescriptions to another convenient Walmart location. All associates in the store are eligible for transfer and will be paid through May 3.

State Senator Michele Reynolds (R-Canal Winchester) issued the following statement on the announcement:

“Walmart’s closing is disappointing. I am grateful that the company is helping area residents by keeping the pharmacy temporarily open for continuity of care, and employees are able to transfer to other locations. Going forward, this can be an opportunity for growth, and I am here to help this neighborhood find a new business to be part of our south side community.”
