Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) commended the Ohio Senate’s passage of the state’s capital budget (Senate Bill 450), which includes $14 million within Ohio’s 23rd Senate District and over $22.1 million for Cuyahoga County as a whole.

“Investing in local projects, large and small, is essential to our state’s continued growth,” said Antonio. “The capital budget allows us to maintain and enhance infrastructure, strengthen communities, and stimulate job growth. While I wish we could have funded every project application, we have a responsibility to make difficult decisions about how resources are allocated. Our goal is to ensure Ohio remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I look forward to continuing bipartisan collaboration across both chambers as we move forward with the capital budget.”

Overall, the bill appropriates $3.7 billion in capital funding, including $208 million for community projects across the state.

Local projects in the bill include:

  • Near West Theatre Project
  • Becks Pool Modernization, the City of Lakewood
  • Lake Erie Nature and Science Center
  • Cuyahoga County Behavioral Health Crisis Center
  • Cleveland Museum of Art

The bill now goes to the Ohio House for consideration. Learn more about the projects supported by the capital budget here
