Antonio, DeWine Visit Local Lakewood Elementary School

Today, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) joined Governor Mike DeWine at Emerson Elementary School in Lakewood as a part of the Governor’s Literacy Leaders Tour.

“It was lovely visiting the students and educators at Emerson Elementary School,” said Antonio. “Lakewood City Schools consistently ranks as one of the top-performing school districts in our state, and we must continue to show our support in ensuring the continued success of our future scholars.” 

The visit, joined by First Lady Fran DeWine and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Director Stephen D. Dackin, included a roundtable discussion with Lakewood City Schools Superintendent Maggie Niedzwiecki, Emerson Elementary Principal Denice Leddy, and several other school and district leaders to discuss their work in implementing methods to raise literacy achievement.
