COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) is proud to announce that Piqua City Schools will receive $175,000 in grant funding from the Ohio Department of Development to support energy efficiency upgrades.

"Maintaining our schools' infrastructure gives students a comfortable learning environment to excel," said Senator Huffman. "I'm proud to see this funding distributed to Piqua City Schools and I look forward to seeing the installation of these utility upgrades for their buildings."

Funding awarded to Piqua City Schools will be used to upgrade its central plant system and air handling unit controls, which is expected to yield an annual utility savings of over $24,000. The Ohio Energy Efficiency Program (OEEP) provides grants to assist small businesses, local governments, manufacturers, school districts, colleges and universities, and nonprofits in completing projects designed to reduce energy usage and associated costs. The Department of Development awarded a total of $700,000 in grants to four communities across Ohio.
