Huffman Announces Funding to Support Families and Workforce Development
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) is proud to announce that more than $2.7 million has been awarded to nonprofit organizations across the 5th Senate District to support families, children, and encourage workforce development.
"Ensuring that these organizations have the ability to fulfill their missions of supporting their fellow Ohioans is the hallmark of good governance," said Senator Huffman. "I'm proud to see this funding distributed to these groups and I know that the worthy services they provide will be felt across the region."
The organizations in the 5th Senate District receiving funding in FY26 and FY27 are the following:
- $275,000 in each fiscal year to assist the Emerge Recovery and Trades Initiative in providing support services, such as workforce training, personal development, housing assistance, and transportation, to eligible men in Greene, Montgomery, Clinton, Clark, Miami, Warren, Hamilton, Butler, Franklin, Darke, and Fayette counties.
- $190,000 in each fiscal year to assist Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley in providing mentorship and personal development training to youth in Montgomery and Greene counties.
- $190,000 in each fiscal year to assist Miami Valley Urban League in providing workforce development training to eligible families in Montgomery County.
- $190,000 in each fiscal year to assist Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton in providing eligible services to families in Butler, Clark, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery, and Shelby counties.
- $50,000 in each fiscal year to assist The Foodbank Inc.in providing eligible recovery services to women in Montgomery County.
- $500,000 in each fiscal year to assist Moms2B - Wright State University in providing maternal support services to eligible women in Montgomery County.
The funding comes from an executive order by the Governor directing Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program funding towards organizations that provide assistance to struggling families, support children, and encourage workforce development.
