Happy Semiquincentennial America!
The Semiquincentennial is here.
July 4th, 2026.
We often wonder what the founders would think about this great Republic we call home.
Ohio played a key role in America's westward expansion from the original 13 colonies.
The First Settlement of the Northwest Territory landed in what is now Marietta in 1788. George Washington's brave members of The Ohio Company built Campus Martius to protect the settlers. Fifteen years later in 1803, Ohio became the 17th State.
Watch our special America 250 President's Podcasts with Chris Matheney, The Historic Site Manager of the Ohio Statehouse, followed by our tour of the Campus Martius Museum in Marietta.
Matheney's new book "Ohio Rising-Journey to Statehood" is free and can be picked up on your next tour of the Statehouse.
