Cutrona Bill Provides Property Tax Relief for Landowners with Well Pads
State Senator Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) introduced Senate Bill 460, which exempts required fencing around oil and gas well pads from property tax evaluations.
“Any opportunity for property tax relief for Ohioans needs to be considered, and this is just one avenue to try," said Senator Cutrona. “Ohio's oil production has continued to increase, but the burden on landowners who build fencing around a well pad and then raising their tax rates as a result is unfair and unjust. This bill will provide relief for property owners across The Valley and Eastern Ohio."
The legislation exempts required fencing surrounding oil and gas well pads from property taxation. Well pads are areas of land that were cleared or prepared for the drilling of wells for production, extraction, injection or exploration of any gas or liquid mineral.
The bill is awaiting referral to a Senate committee for further consideration.
