Senator Cutrona Thanks Governor for Declaring State of Emergency Following Damaging Tornado
State Senator Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) is grateful to Governor Mike DeWine for declaring a state of emergency in Mahoning County following damaging storms and an EF-1 tornado that swept through the region over the July 4th weekend. Senator Cutrona contacted the Governor's office before discussions with the Mahoning County Commissioners in their decision to declare of state of emergency.
“Providing relief to citizens in need after a devastating storm is the hallmark of good governance," said Senator Cutrona. “The state of Ohio is ready to step in and help the community recover and rebuild from these storms. I'm grateful to see collaboration between all levels of government focusing on helping Mahoning County recover."
Senator Cutrona, alongside State Representative Tex Fischer (R-Boardman), provided guidance to the Mahoning County Commissioners in declaring a state of emergency. Following discussions with Senator Cutrona, Representative Fischer, and local officials, Governor DeWine declared a state of emergency for Mahoning County, expediting state support for the cleanup of fallen trees, debris, overall damages, and the restoration of electricity. Additionally, after receiving an invitation from Senator Cutrona and Representative Fischer, Governor DeWine toured the Valley to view the damage firsthand. Senator Cutrona is currently working with members of Congress to advocate for FEMA relief to the affected areas.
