Ingram, Blackshear Emphasize Need for Motor Fuel Quality Testing

Today, state Senators Willis E. Blackshear Jr. (D-Dayton) and Senator Catherine D. Ingram (D-Cincinnati) were joined by Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith and Wood County Auditor Matthew Oestriech to discuss the need for Senate Bill 80, which gives county auditors the option to implement a motor fuel quality testing program.
“S.B. 80 is a consumer-focused bill that will give drivers peace of mind when they go to fuel up their vehicle,” said Blackshear. “This bill is especially necessary given the recent reports of fuel contamination that have cost drivers thousands of dollars.”
“This legislation is long overdue,” said Ingram. “Ohio is one of only three states without fuel quality testing authority. S.B. 80 gives our auditors the tools they need to protect consumers, ensure public safety, and support fair business practices.”
Senate Bill 80 awaits a second hearing in the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee. Watch the full press conference here.
