COLUMBUS-The Ohio Senate passed the budget correction bill, Amended Substitute House Bill 479, which included property tax relief for Ohioans in need. Am. Sub HB 479 provides $350 million in property tax relief to roughly 710,000 Ohioans in the Homestead Exemption program. This group of Ohioans includes low-income senior citizens, totally disabled individuals, 100% disabled military veterans, and surviving spouses of first responders killed in the line of duty.
COLUMBUS-The Ohio Senate concurred with the Ohio House on the Keep Them Safe Act, sponsored by State Senator Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield), to create more opportunities for gun owners to voluntarily store their firearms. The legislation, also known as Substitute Senate Bill 273, provides guidelines and offers civil immunity for Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) and law enforcement agencies who choose to offer gun storage.
Senator Koehler voted for the state's Capital Budget, securing over $5 million for community projects in the 10th Senate District.
Senator Koehler voted against Senate Bill 181 in the Senate on May 13th which in part, relaxes permitting regulations on the surface mining of limestone in Ohio.
