COLUMBUS – Today, State Senator Niraj Antani (R-Miamisburg) released the following statement regarding HB 458, which included requiring a photo ID to vote, which passed the Ohio Senate today:

“Securing the integrity of our elections must be our top priority. We must undertake every effort to prevent voter fraud, and requiring a photo ID to vote is a huge step in ensuring that. This requirement will restore confidence in our elections.

While requiring a photo ID to vote was a great part of this bill, I strongly oppose the allowance of drop boxes included in this bill. Drop boxes result in voter fraud and instead of allowing them, we should ban them. As well, I oppose that the bill allows 4 days after the election to return ballots. Instead, they should be required to be returned on Election Day.”
