Senate Passes Legislation Protecting Voting Rights

COLUMBUS—State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) announced today that the Senate passed House Bill 272 which included an amendment prohibiting a public official from altering the time, place or manner of an election in the state of Ohio. "It has never been more important to protect the voting rights of the people of this country," McColley said. "No public official should have the ability to, at the last moment, order a change in the time or location of an election or the manner in which it is conducted."

The underlying legislation in House Bill 272 expands Ohio's court jurisdictions, enabling more Ohioans to seek justice from companies or individuals who are not based within the state. The bill now returns to the House for concurrence.
