Weinstein Participates in Press Conference with Humane Society of Summit County
Today, state Senator Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) joined the Humane Society of Summit County and community leaders for a press conference highlighting the critical work taking place in Summit County to support animal welfare, promote pet adoption, and provide lifesaving services for animals in need.
“The Humane Society of Summit County does incredible work every day to protect vulnerable animals, connect pets with loving families, and promote responsible pet ownership across our community,” said Weinstein. “I am proud to stand alongside them and champion meaningful, bipartisan legislation in Columbus that strengthens animal welfare laws and ensures accountability for those who mistreat animals.”
Weinstein was joined by state Representative Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) and leadership from the Humane Society of Summit County, who have consistently championed policies that protect animals and advance the organization’s mission in the community.
During the press conference, Senator Weinstein discussed the Humane Society’s ongoing efforts to care for vulnerable animals, expand adoption opportunities, and serve as a vital community resource for families across the region. He also provided an update on legislative efforts at the Statehouse aimed at strengthening and supporting animal welfare initiatives throughout Ohio.
At the Statehouse, Senator Weinstein has introduced Senate Bill 232, which would clarify the definition and strengthen regulatory oversight of high-volume dog breeders. The legislation is part of a broader effort to close loopholes that allow irresponsible breeders to operate without proper oversight and to ensure stronger protections for animals across Ohio.
