Today, Co-Chair of the Ohio Redistricting Commission and Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) released the following statement after Republicans failed to present a congressional map proposal at the first meeting of the Ohio Redistricting Commission. 

On October 1, Democratic Leaders appealed to Governor DeWine's sense of duty and leadership to immediately convene the Ohio Redistricting Commission within 7 days so it could meet its constitutional duty to pass a congressional map by October 31. To date, the governor has refused all action and entirely failed to respond to the good-faith outreach.

After Republican lawmakers ignored the constitutionally-set deadline for proposing congressional district maps, Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) and House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati) sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine today asking him to reconstitute the Ohio Redistricting Commission within the next 7 days to start the process to fulfill its constitutional obligation to produce a fair, bipartisan congressional map.
